How To Plan for Your Session

Styling

I recommend planning your wardrobe around Mom for any type of shoot. Think about styles and cuts that make you feel your best. You want to showcase your favorite features about yourself. We have an elaborate client wardrobe with many options! Not into dresses? I’ve had clients wear amazing pant suits or layer their wardrobe for a cool chic look. You just want something you  can move in. If you have kids during your session you want to be able to bend down, swing, chase and snuggle in whatever you wear.

Neutral tones with simple classic staples are my favorite. These photos will be around longer then anything that is trending now. We want to see you! Your connection, your love, your personality, simple allows us to see you!

Ideas for boys

I love the idea of wild barefoot children running through the woods or bare feet wrapped around mommas baby bump. Overalls, textures, earth tones, classic button ups and knits are so cute on boys. I do have options for boys up to 6 years so feel free to ask if you need assistance in this area.

Ideas for girls

Dresses! They are fun to let girls twirl around in golden light or dressing up just like mom! I have several little girl dresses and even options that match boho styles that pair with our adult dresses.

Ideas for Dad

Keep it classic! Let Dad be who he is. This shoot is just as much about him as everyone. His personality should shine too. If he’s a jean and t-shirt guy let it be! Do a nice Henley in a neutral tone and classic dark jeans. Some Dad’s love to dress up! As long as it coordinates go for it.

Prep

This is a moment you will have documented forever! Some simple tips to make your skin glow to get you feeling great so all you need to worry about the day of is living the moment.

-Hydration! Drink plenty of water  2-3 prior and the day of your photoshoot. This hydrates your skin and will help reduce inflammation. You want to drink half the amount of ounces of your body weight.

-Exfoliate your skin the night before. Whole body! This take away any flakes on lips and face to bring out your natural skins glow.

-Shave or wax so you are not stressing about anything

-Go to a nail salon or give yourself an at home spa treatment for nails (fingers and toes!). I want you to fully embrace this moment. Whether it is a close up of your embrace with your significant other or micro details of how small your babies toes are in your hand. I don’t want you to miss a moment because your nail polish is blue, chipped or dry.

-Moisturize! Your skin will show up beautifully on camera with some hydration
