After what feels like the longest winter ever here in the PNW the sun is finally starting to come out and warm things up!

I was so excited to photograph Jude and his family for his one year milestone session. Be sure to check out his adorable newborn photos! The greatest gift as a Seattle family photographer is to be able to watch my families grow. I had the privilege to take his beautiful mommas maternity photos in 2019 at Rattlesnake lake in the winter. Then I got to meet him once he was born to capture all his amazing hair when he was born and his tiny little features as a newborn baby. He also came for my Christmas themed pj sessions this past year too! Each time I get to see him and his family it feels my heart up with joy.

To celebrate this boy’s one year we decided on doing a rustic inspired session at an old bridge in Orting Wa. It was perfect for this family’s style. I love simple and classic. His suspenders pull at all my heartstrings; especially with his little smirk and smiles he had during our session.

These types of family sessions are my favorite. We go at everyone’s pace. If you have a one year old then you know sometimes they can easily get overwhelmed. We do lots of things in the moment with family sessions. This includes cuddles with mom and dad, nursing if need be, family swinging, discovering and observing things in nature, and sometimes even a game of drop baby and run. Anything to make our session more relaxing, stress free and enjoyable for everyone. Plus it makes it a fun experience so that kiddos enjoy taking photos for future sessions! My only rule for family sessions is that we make it fun and not serious. Because as soon as that happens it becomes a chore and expressions and emotions reflect that. I want to capture those loving nurturing and full of play moments!

If you had a dream photo location where would it be? Right now I’m dreaming of any place outdoors as we are confined to our homes to keep everyone safe. I am looking forward to more moments like these with families in the future.
