One of the best parts of being a Seattle photographer that specializes in maternity sessions is the access to a ton of amazing gowns! I am a brand representative for Mama Bump Rentals and they had sent me two of the most amazing gowns from Spell and the Gypsy!
The boho maternity look has been a favorite of mine, but it is so hard to track down quality gowns that fit well and have the beautiful vintage detail. A secret about these two gowns is that they are not meant for maternity but for engagement! The same as with my vast collection of maternity dresses they can be used for a variety of purposes. Any of my dresses can be used for maternity, engagement, senior photos or even just a family session. Stylizing a session makes all the difference in the photos.
You want your wardrobe to compliment the beautiful lighting and pair well with the scenery. These boho inspired gowns went perfect with the lush green open field with pops of wild flowers. A fun accessory piece we added in this session was a camel colored floppy hat. Coming up with unique styles and drawing out my clients individual personality is a big part of my process as a Seattle maternity photographer.
Anje completed all the perfection of styling, location and lighting with her fun personality and beautiful smile. Feeling like you can be yourself during your photo session is the biggest part in getting gorgeous photos. All the posing in the world doesn’t quite look right if it feels forced or awkward.
I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. As an experienced Seattle maternity photographer I’ve learned a few things about getting clients to relax and be themselves. In the beginning of a session we are just getting to know each other and it can even be a little awkward for the first 20 minutes or so. After awhile though and a few conversations we start to have fun! Getting your photos done is allowing yourself to be and celebrate YOU! Once you realize that it is very fun and exciting.
I hope to do more boho inspired maternity sessions. I love how natural and relaxed they are!
